Christmas Pageant

Live representation of the Christmas story with beautiful music celebrating the season — with live animals and little angels and shepherds. (outdoors, weather permitting)

Join us for our annual "Glory of Christmas Pageant" - a "Come as you are" , no charge, 50 minute event!

This year marks our 24th anniversary.

St. Mark's brings dramatic life to the traditional Nativity story reenacted outdoors (weather permitting). On the front grounds of the church, shepherds, angels, and live animals bring the audience up close to the action, feeling the excitement for events that Christians celebrate this time each year.

The Pageant coordinator says, "For nineteen years, visitors have come early to view the scenes, pet the 'friendly beasts', and take photos. The animals are friendly to children. There is no charge or a sermon. This is an inclusive welcoming community event!"

Featuring a cast of more than fifty and crew of youth and adults from the church and community, the pageant follows Joseph and Mary, riding a donkey to Bethlehem to register for the census. Finding only a stable for shelter, Mary gives birth to baby Jesus. After hearing of the birth, shepherds, with goats and sheep, journey from the 11th street "field". One of the highlights is the host of heavenly angel choir children singing to herald the birth of the baby.

Elaborately costumed Wise Men and canopy bearers (designed by Heights artist, Penny Chappell Creations) arrive with mystery, camel and jeweled gifts. A shepherd choir  and narrators tell the story. Accompanying instrumentalists include local musicians playing synthesizer piano, organ, drums, percussion, and hand bell choir. The music is spectacular and concludes with audience joining in to sing "Joy to the World".

Come join us!    (Parking is available in the parking lot behind the church or on the street)
