Mission Ministries![]() St. Mark's UMC is committed to carrying out the Great Commission by proclaiming, serving and witnessing in love, the Gospel of Jesus Christ through hands-on work projects to persons in need in our neighborhood and throughout the world. Recent Mission Projects include:
![]()
Costa Rica: 14 volunteers went to Allejela, Costa Rica for an 8-day work trip. Work included ditch digging for wall footings, cement mixing, painting, and cleaning the Centro Methodista. The volunteers learned there's no language barrier when it comes to loving Jesus! Daily bible study, prayer, and hard work renewed each participant. We were blessed to represent St. Mark's in another country.
Habitat for Humanity: We are working with several other area churches to build and fund a Habitat for Humanity house. Sign up now at www.houstonhabitat.org to volunteer on a Friday or Saturday to help with the construction. All levels and types of volunteer skills are needed to make this a home for a very special family. You must be over 16 to be on the worksite. Monetary donations are also needed to assist with funding the construction.
![]() Beaumont: When Hurricane Rita ravaged Beaumont, huge trees were completely uprooted, giant limbs were ripped from their trunks, and big branches were littered across the streets of Beaumont. Teaming up with Bering UMC and St. Stephen's UMC, three teams of volunteers traveled to Beaumont one Saturday. After five hours of lumberjacking, three Beaumont families were able to freely move about their properties for the first time in months.
Tool Box Ministry: This "new to St. Mark's" ministry is all about helping our neighbors, especially those who are elderly, disabled, on fixed incomes, or all the above make minor repairs to their homes. We believe that God's people (whether members of St. Mark's or not) deserve decent dwellings. Our first project was in Denver Harbor for a co-worker of a St. Mark's member. About 14 volunteers showed up for two Saturdays (half-days) of carpentry, painting, yardwork, and carport building. If you, or some other homeowner you know, needs minor repairs, please let us know and request an application. We are currently scheduling projects for the Spring and Fall.

Need to Contact Do All the Good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can.
